ONLY ODST CAN DO THIS
reclaimerr said: I've always had a love for ODST's. Been that way for years. People never realize that without Spartans, ODST's would be the next hope for humanity. They're badass and some of the greatest people in the Halo universe.
I think another thing a lot of people seem to forget, is that ODST’s have been around a HELL of a lot longer than Spartans and generally had the worst jobs imaginable. There’s a damn good reason that their motto is ‘Feet First Into Hell’ because they literally get dropped into the shit whereas almost everyone else glides down comfortably to a (usually) cleared LZ on a Pelican. (And if people don’t question why the LZ is cleared, its either dumb luck or because teams [normally ODST’s] have been dropped in already to clear the area.)
And another thing people seem to forget is that ODST’s made the CHOICE to become what they are. They made the choice to place themselves in the most dangerous jobs knowing full well that there was a good chance that they’d die in the line of duty, and that takes some amount of balls. Spartans were forced into the position they’re in (I mean being kidnapped at the age of 6 isn’t something I’d consider to be voluntary, and even those who enlisted in the III’s were still only children and in most cases were orphans of war, so I wouldn’t consider their enlistment entirely voluntary either.)
Spartan’s didn’t get a choice, ODST’s did, and they still decided to take the risk and fight for what they believe in and to protect others. Which is why I seriously love them.
[extra note, ODST’s are at a physical disadvantage to Spartans too and yet they can still manage to get their jobs done, despite the fact that the odds are completely against them. I mean c’mon, have you seen the size of Brutes, Elites and Hunters in comparison to a regular ODST?]
